Integrated Systems Design

The passive, integration of human and natural environments is the key to finding a balance between ecological and economic systems.

  • Holistic Property Management Plans.
  • Rainwater Catchment and Harvesting Systems.
  • Islands of Refugia for agricultural systems.
  • Perennial Polycultures and Food Forests.

Ecological is Economical

  • Closing the loop through the utilization of on-site resources and complete systems integration.

Primary Site Assessments

PSAs establish a baseline of information of existing features, environmental factors and zones so that goals can be appropriately set with corresponding design timelines.

Complete Design Services

With an integrated and holistic approach complete project design will have a lower maintenance value and an increased success rate with few materials and costs.

Suburban Food Forests

Using a mature forest matrix as a model we design and implement perennial food systems in suburban settings.  Once established there is no need for supplemental irrigation or fertilization.

Rainwater Catchment Systems

Since the passing of the Rainwater Catchment Act of 2013 High Tide has been designing and teaching about rainwater catchment systems.  1,000 square feet of catchment surface has the potential to capture 600-gallons of water for every 1-inch of precipitation.  Our integrated and passive systems will have you catching, storing and using rainwater in no time!

Islands of Refugia

Intensive agricultural systems fragment existing natural systems and the functions they provide.  This fragmentation creates an increase in pest populations and thus an increase in maintenance.  This can lead to low agricultural yields, increased operations cost and an increase in the use of pesticides.  Islands of Refugia provide habitat for beneficial insects, birds and micro-organisms which will increase yields and eliminate the need for pesticides.
